Welcome to Lux Mundi Learning, LLC

At Lux Mundi Learning, LLC, we are passionate about breaking down language barriers to open up a world of opportunities. Our mission is to provide personalized, effective language learning experiences tailored to each individual's needs.

Our Founder:

Lux Mundi Learning was founded by Dr. Crystal Marull, a seasoned educator with over 25 years of experience in education. Dr. Marull holds degrees including a BS in Communication, Masters in Education, and dual Masters and PhD in Spanish with a focus on Bilingualism and Second Language Acquisition. She has been serving as the Coordinator of the Online Spanish Program at the University of Florida since 2017.

During her tenure at UF, Dr. Marull has designed, implemented, and taught award-winning online courses at both beginner and intermediate levels, setting the standard for online language education. Her pioneering work resulted in the creation of the Three Pillar Model (Marull and Kumar, 2020). This model has been licensed to Lux Mundi Learning to enhance our educational offerings.

The Three Pillar Model has influenced educational approaches at numerous large institutions, including Texas Tech University and Mississippi State University. However, the adoption of this model by these institutions does not imply any formal partnership or endorsement of Lux Mundi Learning.

Lux Mundi Learning operates independently of Dr. Marull's academic role at UF. While her contributions to education at UF are recognized, Lux Mundi Learning is an independent enterprise, not affiliated with UF beyond the use of licensed methodologies.

Dr. Marull's notable achievements in education include:

  • University of Florida Educator of the Year (2023) - An accolade that celebrates her commitment to excellence in online education.

  • Recipient of the "Innovator in Distance Learning: Higher Education" from the Florida Distance Learning Association (2023) - Recognizing her innovative contributions to distance learning.

  • Exemplary Online Award for learner satisfaction and innovative approach in teaching SPN 1131 Online (Beginning Spanish II) - Awarded by the Office of Faculty Development and Teaching Excellence, University of Florida.

  • Online Education Excellence Award in the category of "Large Enrollment Strategies" for SPN 1130 Online (Beginning Spanish I) - Also from the Office of Faculty Development and Teaching Excellence, University of Florida.

Dr. Marull is a parent of three children who have engaged in diverse educational opportunities including:

  • Public School

  • Magnet Programs (e.g., Dual Language Immersion and Technical Professions)

  • Dual Enrollment (e.g., Santa Fe College and the University of Florida)

  • CLEP exams

  • FLVS

  • International Exchange Programs (e.g., Nsli-Y, Flex, Ayusa, Educatious, Educational Travel, EF Tours)

  • Homeschool (traditional and PEP)

Through such personal experience, she is intimately aware of the need for high quality and flexible educational opportunities. Seeing a lack of high quality, non-woke, language learning opportunities, specifically for home school students, Dr. Marull decided to leverage her experience and bridge that gap. Thus, Lux Mundi Learning, LLC was born!

Our Tutors

All of our services are eligible for reimbursement from Step-up-for-Students.

All of our tutors are highly qualified language instructors. They are either native speakers of Spanish or have native-like proficiency. All tutors meet the part-time Elective tutor qualifications outline on page 8 of the Florida Tax Credit (FTC) Scholarship/Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO) Purchasing Guide 2024-25.

    • Certification or national accreditation in the relevant subject area.

    • Currently enrolled in a postsecondary educational institution as a student of the relevant subject area;

    • Degree from a postsecondary educational institution in the relevant subject area;

    • Eligible to provide part-time tutoring services as identified in the requirements listed in the Tuition and Fees for Part-Time Tutoring Services or Fees for Choice Navigator Services

    • Minimum of three years of experience in the relevant subject area as demonstrated by employment records (i.e. a resume, website, LinkedIn profile, etc.); or

    • Valid or expired Florida educator’s certificate

Some of our services are offered on the EMA marketplace for the following eligible programs: FES-UA, FTC, FES-EO, New Worlds, and PEP. If purchased via the EMA marketplace parents can pay directly with their funds and do not need to go through the reimbursement process. Our tutors providing the EMA marketplace services, at minimum, meet the stricter qualifications:

    • Certification or national accreditation in the relevant subject area.

    • Currently enrolled in a postsecondary educational institution as a student of the relevant subject area;

    • Degree from a postsecondary educational institution in the relevant subject area;

    • Eligible to provide part-time tutoring services as identified in the requirements listed in the Tuition and Fees for Part-Time Tutoring Services or Fees for Choice Navigator Services

    • Minimum of three years of experience in the relevant subject area as demonstrated by employment records (i.e. a resume, website, LinkedIn profile, etc.); or

    • Valid or expired Florida educator’s certificate

Initial Focus:

We are excited to start by serving homeschool students in Florida, particularly those in the Step Up For Students programs: FES-UA, FTC, FES-EO, New Worlds, and PEP. Our aim is to provide an accessible, high-quality language education that supports both academic and personal growth.
